To help learners clearly define and understand the ideal customer by analysing the target audience, target market, and target people, ensuring business strategies and sales efforts are focused on the right prospects.

1. Introduction to Knowing Your Customer 

·       An Ideal Customer is the profile of a person or organization most likely to buy your product/service. 

·       Knowing your customer ensures: 

o   Better alignment of product features to customer needs. 

o   Efficient use of sales and marketing resources. 

o   Higher conversion rates and stronger client relationships. 

 

2. Target Audience 

·       The specific group of people you want to reach with your message. 

·       Defined by demographics, interests, and behavior. 

·       Example: For a VoIP solution → Businesses with high customer call volumes. 

·       Key factors to identify: 

o   Age, gender, income level (if B2C). 

o   Industry, company size, geography (if B2B). 

o   Buying behavior and decision-making roles. 

 

3. Target Market 

·       broader segment of the industry/market where your product has demand. 

·       Helps businesses focus instead of trying to reach “everyone.” 

·       Example: 

o   Target Market for CRM software → SMEs in IT, E-commerce, and Retail. 

·       Factors to define: 

o   Market size and growth potential. 

o   Competitive landscape. 

o   Customer pain points the market faces. 

 

4. Target People (Decision Makers & Influencers) 

·       Within the target audience, not everyone decides. You must identify key roles

o   Decision Makers: People who approve budgets (CXOs, Directors, Founders). 

o   Influencers: People who recommend solutions (Managers, Team Leads). 

o   End Users: People who will use the solution daily. 

·       Example (VoIP Solution): 

o   Decision Maker → CTO/Head of IT. 

o   Influencer → Operations Manager. 

o   End User → Call Center Agents. 

 

6. Practical Application 

·       Activity 1: Define the target audience for your product using demographics/industry. 

·       Activity 2: Map out the target market (industry + region + company size). 

·       Activity 3: List the key decision makers and influencers within that market. 

Day 7 : Lead Generation ( Freelancer, Upwork ) etc.
